October recap
The month of October went by really fast, at least it seemed that way for me! I am really grateful since that means baby time is getting close!
October is for harvest on the farm. When harvest season comes around I have to mentally prepare myself for the lonely season ahead. Long days and one day weekends can grow wearisome but it is only for a season and then I will get my husband back at normal times, yay!
As my husband has been in the field I have been taking things easy and trying out a few new things as well!
I've been busy sewing items for my booth at the local antique shop. My mom found a lot of old cutter quilts for me to cut up and reuse. I've made some beautiful tree skirts, stockings, and ornaments from the quilts. I am excited to drop those off on Sunday!
I have also been busy with Christmas present prep. This year I am working on some self-care items to gift. One of my favorites that I am working on at the moment is a rose hip infused oil for fine lines and wrinkles but also works great as a way to diminish scars and acne breakouts. My husband was able to locate some wild rose hips on the family land that had not been sprayed so we went together and collected about 4oz worth of tiny little rose hips. They are now soaking in Jojoba and almond oil for a few weeks. It has been so fun to forage items from around us!
Another fun thing I have tried out this month and is still in the process of being made, apple cider vinegar from organic apples that were also foraged from family land. Organic apples are funny looking but so far they are making a beautiful vinegar. I cut the apples up and used every bit of the apple. Filled with a water and sugar mix with a dash of organic apple cider vinegar. So far after covering and leaving it out in a warm space for a week it is looking and smelling great! I still need to let it sit for another week before I strain out the apples and let it sit even longer. It's all such a process but I love the longer wait times where you invest time into something that will be a huge benefit!
And between you and me I will be so happy when Halloween is over and we can move on to Thanksgiving and Christmas! Such happy and fun holidays, even if they can be a bit stressful at times, haha!
