September Recap

September for us normally means the start of Harvest season, warm days and cool nights, getting back into the groove of things after the end of Summer. I love the change in the weather in our area. The hot humid days are behind us and cool evenings are a nice relief. The different smells that Fall and harvest bring to the country along with the changing colors to the trees. Fall is one of my favorite seasons.

This September started off different from the rest and has forced me to slow down by quite a bit. I had been feeling more contractions around the beginning/middle of September but kept putting them off since I have grown used to Braxton Hicks in all of my pregnancies. After this continued off and on for a week I decided it was time to call my doctors and make sure everything was fine, better safe than sorry. I expected them to say all looks good it's just your normal wear and tear but that was not the case. My cervix was funneling and my contractions were coming pretty regularly. Since I was only 26 weeks along they decided to give me steroid shots for the baby's lungs and kept me over night to monitor my contractions. I kept having flashbacks when I gave birth to James at 34 weeks since they couldn't stop the labor. Thank the Lord, so many people started praying and my contractions slowly started to get less and less without any interventions. They sent me home the next afternoon and told me to start taking it easy around the house. I still get contractions every now and then but I have made it to almost 29 weeks and even though there is still 7 weeks to go, every day is an answer to prayer!

Since I've been taking it easy we have celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary! We of course stayed home but we decided to try something a little different for supper. Clay grilled out some buffalo steaks from our local butcher. They were amazing, Clay wasn't so sure about it though, haha!

I've been passing the time by reading. Agatha Christie, and all sorts of Amish books. What a combo, ha! I've been cross stitching. It can feel a bit tedious at times but I like it for the most part. Sitting on my front porch rocker has been nice as well. And I recently ordered some colored pencils and have started to do some coloring.

Before this whole taking it easy deal I was able to finish up the garden for the most part. I still need to plant the garlic my sweet friend gave me but that will be planted in mid October.

I was also able to try out a few new things at the beginning of this month. I gathered a few pine needles and am soaking some in oil and some in vinegar. The pine oil I hope to use for fragrance in the home by making a few diffusing reeds, still not 100% sure if it will work but we shall see. The vinegar pine solution I hope to use for cleaning purposes. I mostly only use vinegar to clean with anyways so adding that extra bit of fresh pine scent will be something different.

Things I'm looking forward to in October? Being further along with baby #4 ( we don't know the gender yet so it's just baby #4 haha!). The cooler weather and cozy days. Reading more books, spending more time with the kids, adding to my crafting skills (ha!). I'm trying to enjoy this time of forced rest and soak it in as much as I can, it's just for a short season.

Here is hoping, praying, believing, that baby is still growing inside me by the October recap!
